Mike... Summer 59

Hello....  I am Michael Sevey (S-59).  What a great web site for the
SGHS alumni.  This makes the last 50 years (almost) melt away!

I was friends with Dennis Tingler, Don Grussing, and Jerry Lay, and
probably had too much fun and not enough study.  It's so interesting
to read the bio's of so many of our classmates.  I keep checking
every now and then for new ones.

After graduation from SGHS, I attended East LA Jr. College and also a
short time at Cerritos College.  I was in the Navy Reserve, and
served active duty from 1960 to 1963 as a Sonar technician on a
destroyer out of Long Beach.  I had one more year of active reserve
service at Los Alamitos Naval Air Station doing some weekend patrols
on a Neptune P2V aircraft up and down the coast, and other weekends
doing mundane paperwork.  I went to work in 1963 for the Pacific
Telephone Company in the Gardena and Torrance area.  Was transferred
to Denver Colorado in 1968 and worked for Mountain Bell then AT&T for
the next 30 years as a PBX installation tech, then as an instructor
in the training division, and finally as a Tech Support engineer.

I was married in 1961 and had two sons.  Divorced in 1973.  Remarried
and we have four sons -- two from each of us.  Of course, they all
have their own families and we now have 5 grandchildren and even one
great-grandchild.

We both retired at the end of 1997 and started touring the country
full time in our RV.  We have a small place in Brownsville Texas
where we spend most winters (no more snow), but we still travel in
our motorhome from April to October (Fuel prices permitting).  Our
sons are all over the U.S. so we have a good excuse to hit the road.
