Ellen Kathleen (Jones)
Pomrehn
Pomrehn,
Ellen Kathleen (Jones), of Westminster, age 69, passed away
Monday, June 9, 2008 at Los Alamitos Hospital and was immediately
welcomed into the arms of Jesus. Ellen Kathleen Jones was born April
10, 1939 in South Gate, CA, the daughter of Leonard M. and Doris A.
(Sturgess) Jones. After graduating from South Gate High School in
1956, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from
the University of Southern California. On June 12, 1960, she married
the love of her life, Hugo Paul Pomrehn, and was a devoted mother to
their three children. Upon graduation from USC, Ellen began her
career as a grade-school teacher. Working for the Westminster School
District, she taught mainly kindergarten at Midway City School until
her retirement in 1995. Ellen enjoyed gardening, knitting,
crocheting, needlepoint, crossword puzzles and cheering for USC. But
mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her
grandchildren. Ellen was a devoted wife and mother, and a dedicated
teacher, always thinking of and helping others. In addition to her
husband, Ellen leaves to cherish wonderful memories: son Leonard
(Suzanne) and grandsons Paul and Joe of Michigan, daughter Kathleen
Perry and granddaughters Elena and Emma of Long Beach, son Scott
(Wendy) and grandchildren Ryan, Randi, Robbie, John, Margaret, Alex,
Mary, Elizabeth and Bridget of Monrovia, brothers and
sisters-in-law, beautiful nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and
many special friends. Especially dear to Ellen was her sister
Carolyn Rickon of Placerville. The Family would like to extend a
special thank you to Dr. Jabara and his staff at St. Joseph's for
all their years of care and concern. Family and friends will gather
in the chapel of Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd,
Westminster, CA on Friday, June 20. Visitation will be held from 9
to 11:30 am, with services commencing promptly at 12 p.m. Pastor
Richard A. Flowers officiating. |
