Well, it looks like, so far, I’m the most recent SGHS graduate on this site.  I loved growing up in South Gate, and even though the community is nearly unrecognizable to us today, it is comforting that our sense of community is not lost, but flourishes on this site.  (A thousand thank you’s, Dave!)

I graduated SGHS in Summer 1970, having attended Tweedy Elementary (when Irene Lucas was Principal), and then South Gate Junior High (Mr. Rork and Mr. Reardon were at the helm during my years there).  I remember Mr. Swart coaching when I was at SGJHS.  I never knew he was a graduate of SGHS!

Currently, I make my home in Long Beach and make my living in Cerritos as a legal assistant, so, as you can see, I didn’t travel too very far from South Gate.  I am mother to two wonderful grown children, and grandmother to three beautiful little girls.  My passions are genealogy and alternative and complementary health.

I was President of Pep Club during my senior year and I very much enjoyed all that went along with that.  I also served on the Student Council for a time and enjoyed being South Gate Police Chief for a Day.  Anybody remember Officer Chapman?  He was a great guy!

I thank you for allowing me to join this wonderful community of people who loved growing up in South Gate.  I would love to see others from my class of 1970 to join me here!
